Travel Planning FAQs
I’m overwhelmed by cruise choices—how do we pick the right ship and cabin?
We start with your non-negotiables: dates, budget range, cabin type, and vibe (quiet & classy vs. high-energy & entertainment). Then we filter ships by crowd flow, pool deck noise, kids’ areas, dining style, and cabin location (avoiding late-night venues and early-morning service zones). You’ll get 2–3 best-fit options with a plain-English pros/cons list and our recommended cabin numbers—so you can decide fast without second-guessing.
Our family has different budgets and attention spans. Can you plan something that actually works for kids and grandparents?
Yes. We design “split-track” days: a simple shared morning (must-see), optional mid-day rest (naps, pool, shade), and two short afternoon choices (active vs. low-key). Dinners are pre-booked at walkable spots or onboard within elevator distance. We tag everything by walking time and bathroom access, and we include backup options for weather or meltdowns.
What if something goes wrong—missed connection, sick kid, weather delay on embarkation day?
You’ll have a printed and digital Plan B: airline contacts, protection rules, embarkation day emergency numbers, and alternative routing we’ve pre-checked. For cruises, we aim to fly in the day before and we set a “latest safe arrival” time. If delays hit, we handle the rebooking while you focus on the kids—plus we brief you on what to say at the gate to trigger airline protections.
Do you charge planning fees? How do you get paid?
Most trip components pay us a commission after you travel; complex trips (multi-city, last-minute, or heavy customization) may have a transparent planning fee that’s quoted up front and credited when possible. No hidden agency fees—ever.
I hate “gotchas.” Can you make the real, all-in cost clear before I book?
We quote a “true total” that includes taxes, resort fees, port charges, transfers, internet, gratuities, and likely add-ons (drink packages, specialty dining, excursions). You’ll see a clean spreadsheet with optional items separated so you control the splurges and stay on budget.
We want authentic experiences—not tourist traps. How do you find real hidden gems?
We combine vetted local partners with our own field notes: time-of-day strategies, streets to approach from, and small vendors who actually show up. We prefer shorter, high-quality stops over long bus tours. You’ll get “green-flag” cues (good menus, local clientele, safe sidewalks) and “red-flag” cues (pushy hosts, laminated menus with 8 languages, stack-’em-in vans).
We have dietary or mobility needs. Will we be okay on tours, cruises, or at all-inclusive resorts?
We pre-alert suppliers and request written confirmations. For ships and resorts, we choose venues with proven gluten-free/peanut-allergy workflows and elevators close to your room. Tours are filtered by vehicle type, step counts, restroom availability, and shade. You’ll have a clear “access plan” before you pay.
Is travel insurance really worth it? What does it actually cover?
It protects prepaid, non-refundable costs if you have a covered reason to cancel, and it helps with medical care and evacuation abroad. We’ll price a couple of policies side-by-side and explain in plain English what’s covered (and what isn’t) so you can choose with confidence.
I don’t have time to research. Can you plan in phases so I can approve fast?
Yes. We use a 3-step flow: (1) Fit Check (dates, budget, vibe), (2) Shortlist (2–3 curated options with quick picks), (3) Lock-In (we place holds so good cabins/rooms don’t disappear). You say “yes” or “tweak,” and we move—no homework required.
Can you work with my points and miles?
We’ll try to integrate points where it genuinely saves money or upgrades your experience. If a cash fare or consolidator rate beats your mileage value, we’ll say so. Hybrids are common: points for flights, cash for cruise/resort so you still earn perks and protect the reservation.
