Defiance Travel Agent · Personal Vacation Planning

Plan Your Next Vacation With a Defiance Travel Agent

You do not need to know the perfect cruise, resort, destination, or itinerary before reaching out. Tell me what you are considering, who is traveling, what matters most, and what you want the trip to feel like. I will help you turn those ideas into a vacation that makes sense.

Sehlmeyer Travel is a locally owned full-service travel agency based in Defiance, Ohio, serving Northwest Ohio and travelers nationwide. I help clients compare cruises, all-inclusive resorts, family vacations, romantic getaways, group travel, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and custom trips—with personal guidance from the first conversation through the details that make the trip work.

Already know the cruise, resort, or dates you want? You can start searching online yourself and still have Sehlmeyer Travel available when you want help.

No call center. No pressure to know every answer before you begin. Your trip request goes directly to Matt, and submitting the form starts a planning conversation—not an automatic booking or commitment to purchase.

What Should You Tell Me?

You Do Not Need the Whole Vacation Figured Out

A general direction is enough. The more I understand about the people traveling and what matters to you, the better I can narrow the options without wasting your time on trips that were never a good fit.

Trip Basics

Share your approximate dates, number and ages of travelers, departure airport, destination ideas, and whether you are considering a cruise, resort, group trip, or custom vacation.

Budget & Travel Style

Tell me the comfortable budget range you want me to work within and whether your priorities are relaxation, activities, beaches, food, luxury, family time, romance, sightseeing, or something completely different.

Must-Haves & Concerns

Mention room preferences, mobility needs, passports, celebrations, nonstop flights, specific cruise lines or resorts, past travel experiences, and anything you absolutely want—or want to avoid.

What Happens After You Submit?

A Clear Planning Process From the First Conversation

The form gives me enough context to start intelligently. From there, the goal is to narrow the choices, answer the important questions, and move toward a trip you can feel confident booking.

1

You Share the Trip

Tell me what you know so far—travelers, dates, budget, departure airport, destination ideas, priorities, and questions.

2

I Review the Fit

I look at the options around your actual goals rather than sending every package that happens to match a date or destination.

3

We Build the Right Trip

Compare the strongest options, ask questions, adjust the direction when needed, and move forward when the trip makes sense to you.

5-Star Client Reviews

Tell Me About the Trip You Are Considering

Complete the form below with as much detail as you currently know. If you are unsure about a destination, budget detail, room type, cruise line, or another part of the trip, leave yourself room to say that. Helping you sort through those decisions is part of the planning process.

Your request comes directly to Matt. Submitting the form starts the conversation—it does not automatically book anything or commit you to a purchase.

What Your Request Means

You Have Started a Conversation—Not Locked Yourself Into a Trip

Your trip request gives me enough information to understand what you are considering and begin thinking through the strongest direction. It does not automatically reserve anything, charge anything, or commit you to a particular cruise, resort, destination, or vacation package.

Sehlmeyer Travel is personally run by Matt Sehlmeyer, so the details you submit come directly to the person who will help you work through the trip.

What Happens Next?

From Trip Request to a Vacation That Actually Fits

The form gives me a starting point. The real value comes from what happens next: understanding the travelers, identifying the decisions that matter, and narrowing the enormous number of available options into the ones that deserve your attention.

1

I Review the Details

I look at your travelers, dates, departure point, destination ideas, trip style, budget information, must-haves, concerns, and anything else you shared.

2

We Clarify the Important Parts

If one unanswered question could significantly change the recommendation, I can follow up before spending time comparing options that were never going to fit.

3

We Narrow the Right Direction

From there, we can compare the strongest options, adjust what needs adjusting, and move toward booking once the overall trip makes sense.

More Than Finding Something Available

What I Look At Before Recommending a Trip

A search engine can show what is available. Good travel planning asks a harder question: which option actually fits the people taking the trip, the money being spent, and the experience you want to have?

Traveler Fit & Logistics

The trip has to work in the real world—not just look good in a search result.

  • Who is traveling and the ages or needs of the travelers
  • Fixed dates, school schedules, work schedules, or flexibility
  • Departure airport and the full travel-day experience
  • Room, cabin, bedding, accessibility, or mobility needs
  • Transfers, rental cars, hotels, and arrival logistics
  • Passport and international-travel considerations
  • The pace and complexity of the overall itinerary

Value & Vacation Experience

The lowest advertised price is only one part of whether something is actually a good value.

  • Total trip cost instead of only the headline fare or room price
  • What is included and what may cost extra later
  • Beach, food, activities, entertainment, or itinerary priorities
  • Room and cabin category differences
  • Convenience versus lower-priced alternatives
  • Where spending more may meaningfully improve the trip
  • Where an upgrade may not justify the additional cost

Where Personal Planning Adds Value

The Best Trip Is Not Always the Most Obvious One

Two vacations can look almost identical on a screen and create very different experiences once the details are examined. Personal planning helps connect the price, logistics, expectations, and actual traveler fit before those differences become expensive surprises.

A Better Fit

A great adults-only resort may be wrong for a family. A highly rated cruise ship may still be the wrong ship for your priorities. The recommendation has to fit the traveler, not simply the review score.

Fewer Expensive Surprises

Flights, transfers, room categories, cruise packages, resort inclusions, taxes, gratuities, excursions, and other details can materially change the true cost and convenience of a trip.

Someone Who Knows the Trip

When questions arise, you are not starting over with someone who has never seen your plans. Matt already knows the trip, the priorities behind it, and the decisions that led to the booking.

Planning Questions

Common Questions About Working With Sehlmeyer Travel

You do not have to arrive with a finished vacation plan. Many clients start with only a few ideas and use the planning process to figure out what makes the most sense.

Do I need to know exactly where I want to go?

No. You may only know that you want somewhere warm, an Alaska experience, a family vacation, a honeymoon, a cruise, an all-inclusive resort, or a trip built around a special event. That is enough to begin narrowing the direction.

Do I need exact travel dates?

No. Exact dates are helpful when they are fixed, but a season, month, school break, anniversary window, or flexible range can also be a useful starting point.

What if I do not know what my budget should be?

That is okay. Share whatever you know about what feels comfortable. Budget is useful because it helps determine which destinations, trip lengths, room categories, dates, or departure airports are realistic, but the planning conversation can also help establish expectations.

Can we compare very different vacation ideas?

Yes. Sometimes the real decision is cruise versus resort, Mexico versus the Caribbean, Alaska cruise versus land travel, or one departure airport versus another. Those bigger comparisons can be more important than choosing between two nearly identical hotels.

What if the first options are not quite right?

Your feedback helps narrow the trip further. We can adjust the destination, dates, price range, trip length, room type, cruise line, resort style, airport, or priorities until the direction makes better sense.

Can I start searching online and ask Matt for help later?

Yes. Sehlmeyer Travel now supports both personal full-service planning and online research. If you already know the cruise, resort, destination, or dates you want, you can begin searching online and still bring Matt into the process when you want guidance.

Do you only work with travelers near Defiance?

No. Sehlmeyer Travel is based in Defiance, Ohio and serves travelers throughout Northwest Ohio, but Matt can also work directly with clients nationwide through phone, email, and online communication.

Does submitting the form book anything?

No. The form starts the planning conversation. Nothing is automatically reserved or purchased simply because you submitted your trip information.

Your Vacation Should Make Sense Before You Spend the Money

The goal of Sehlmeyer Travel is not to push every traveler toward the same destination, resort, cruise line, or way of booking. It is to help you understand the choices, avoid unnecessary guesswork, and move forward with a trip that fits the people actually taking it.

Whether you arrive with a specific cruise already picked out or only a rough idea of where you might want to go, there is room to start where you are. The planning process can become more specific as the right trip becomes clearer.
